Demonstrations to show solidarity with the thousands of Syrians killed during the Assad regime’s crackdown will be held on Friday and Saturday night in Tel Aviv.
The first demonstration, which will take place at the Jaffa Clock Tower on Friday night, is titled “Yaffa Syria one nation one pain.”
On the group’s Facebook page, where 174 people had RSVPed by Thursday, the demonstration is referred to as “an act of solidarity with the Syrian people and revolution.”
The Israeli Arab community has drawn criticism recently for their lack of mass protests against the bloodletting taking place in Syria.
A candlelight vigil will also be held outside the Russian Embassy on Saturday. Organizers said the event is “a support rally for the Syrian people who are being butchered by the cruel regime of Assad.”
This week, Russia and China vetoed a UN Security Council resolution to transfer powers from Assad.
