Brain teaser: Move two matchsticks to solve the equation

Today's puzzle has gone especially viral on social networks. In the image, an incorrect equation is displayed. Correct the error by moving only two matchsticks. Will you be able to solve it?

The equation consists of 24 matchsticks in total: 33+7=15. Drag two of them from their place and place them elsewhere to change the numbers and arrive at the correct equation. The answer is at the bottom of the article.

Many have struggled to find the solution, as the puzzle is not particularly easy and can be confusing. Think carefully and look closely at the image for the correct answer. Take one last look at the exercise before you scroll down to reveal the answer.

To reach the correct equation, the vertical matchstick in the plus sign (turning it into a minus sign) must be placed vertically on the bottom left side of the number 5 (15), to get the number 16. Now, move the bottom vertical matchstick in the leftmost number 3 (33) to the left to get the number 23.

The correct equation is: 23-7=16.
