A British woman issued warnings after allegedly nearly being drugged by Scopolamine, a narcotic more commonly known as Devil’s Breath, British media reported in late July.

The drug, dubbed ‘world’s scariest drug,’ is a powdery substance which temporarily incapacitates victims - allowing criminals to rob or sexually assault them.

The woman, Aysin Cilek, said the ordeal was the "scariest thing" to have ever happened to her. She explained that she was traveling by train last week when “a dodgy-looking guy got on…”

Thinking “nothing of it," she continued her commute and even returned greetings with the man when he said, “Hi.”

"I'm a lovely person so I said, 'Hi' too, and then he passed me what looked like stamp, but it's clearly not a stamp - it looked more like an acid tablet," she said.

The man asked if she could put the stamp on a letter for him, though the letter was only a blank piece of paper, but there didn’t appear to be any adhesive on the stamp. She asked how, and he instructed her to lick the stamp, raising alarm bells for Cilek.

"Bearing in mind he'd had his fingers all over it, I said, 'No' and he told me I didn't have to," she explained

"If you have heard of Devil's Breath, this guy was definitely trying to drug me," Cilek warned. "It was just me and [child's name] - I could have been drugged and [child's name] could have been gone."

She added: "This is serious, guys. You need to be so careful when you are out and about because I would have never imagined something like that would happen to me."

What is Devil’s Breath?

Made from the seeds of the Borrachero tree, among other chemicals, the same chemicals used to manufacture the drugs are used for treating nausea and motion sickness.

However, Devil’s Breath’s tasteless and odorless powdered form has made it a favorite drug of criminal groups. UK Addiction Treatment Centres report that the drug can disorient and incapacitate users or victims and lead to “frightening” hallucinations.

Across South America, reports indicate that criminal groups have used the drug to coerce people to commit crimes. A number of reports also indicate that victims have been raped, robbed, and had their organs stolen after being drugged with Devil’s Breath.
