The IDF announced Monday that it had recovered the remains of St.-Sgt.-Maj. Ran Gvili, the last Israeli hostage held by Hamas, in the Shejaia neighborhood in northern Gaza.
According to the IDF, a series of clandestine operations began over the weekend to pinpoint Gvili’s burial site.
Intelligence pointed to two or three potential locations. Recent information led the military to a Muslim cemetery in the Shejaiya Daraj-Tuffah area on the Israeli side of the yellow line, where Gvili was ultimately found.
