Palestinian stabs, lightly hurts soldier in W. Bank Staff
13-year-old enters Hawara checkpoint via "humanitarian lane," bypassing inspection.
An IDF soldier was lightly wounded Tuesday morning after a 13-year-old Palestinian boy stabbed him at the Hawara checkpoint, south of Nablus. Soldiers arrested the assailant, who had entered the checkpoint through the "humanitarian lane," which is meant to be used by Palestinians in need of immediate medical attention and therefore bypasses the inspection in the regular lane. The soldier received initial medical care on the scene and was transferred to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva for further treatment. Last September, a Palestinian woman threw acid in the face of an IDF soldier at the Hawara checkpoint. The soldier was hospitalized with light-to-moderate wounds.
