Former Egypt parliament speaker held in graft probe

CAIRO - Egypt's public prosecutor ordered that Fathi Sorour, former speaker in the lower house of parliament, be detained for 15 days as part of an investigation into accusations of graft, judicial sources said on Wednesday.

Sorour, a senior member of former President Hosni Mubarak's ruling party, was summoned on Monday before a special panel formed to uncover illicit gains by former senior officials.
