Judea and Samaria police detain boy after he allegedly wrote anti-Arab slogans with black marker on Palestinian cars.
An 11-year-old boy was detained by Judea and Samaria police Sunday night, after he allegedly wrote anti- Arab slogans with a black marker on three cars belonging to Palestinians in the Sha’ar Binyamin industrial zone.

The child refused to cooperate with investigators and was released shortly thereafter, the Judea and Samaria district police said Monday. Police said they called him in for an additional questioning.

Last week, the left-wing NGO B’Tselem released a video of a five-year-old Palestinian boy from Hebron being detained by IDF troops after he was stopped for throwing stones at soldiers at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron.

The video went viral and, in response, IDF Central Command chief Maj.-Gen. Nitzan Alon said troops “made a mistake during the event, both in detaining the boy and detaining his father,” and that the incident caused more harm than good.

On Monday, following reports of police detaining the 11-year-old Israeli boy, B’Tselem said, “We repeat and emphasize that it is forbidden to arrest minors under the age of 12, the age of criminal responsibility. It is also not allowed to question a child under this age.”
