Brig.-Gen. Danny Arditi, head of the Counterterrorism Bureau of the National Security Council, warned Sunday that al-Qaida operations may be underway in the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip. Arditi warned in an Army Radio interview that, in light of this, Israelis should refrain from visiting Sinai and Jordan Al-Qaida operatives have entered Gaza and in the Sinai Peninsula, local Bedouin have become involved in the terror activities, Arditi said. "The breaching of the border along the Philadelphi Route allowed al-Qaida operatives, representatives of the international jihad, apparently enabled them to enter the Gaza Strip," explained Arditi. "These are agents who are opposed to the government in Egypt and are largely responsible for the terror attacks we have seen in the Sinai Peninsula."
