Russian FM: Russia still opposes sanctions on Iran
Russia's foreign minister said Thursday that Moscow remains opposed to sanctions against Iran in the dispute over Tehran's nuclear program, the Interfax news agency reported. Imposing sanctions would be an unconstructive step, Interfax quoted him as saying in the Polish capital Warsaw. "We will look at what other possibilities exist to pursue multilateral diplomatic efforts," he said. Foreign ministers from six major powers including Russia are expected to meet, possibly Friday in London, to discuss the crisis surrounding Iran after a key European negotiator conceded "endless hours" of talks had made little progress and suggested the dispute could wind up at the UN soon.
