The FBI's Phoenix bureau released a new description of a suspect in the case of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie's disappearance in a statement on Thursday night on X/Twitter.
The suspect is a man of average build and approximately 5’9” - 5’10” tall, according to the FBI. The description was created after the FBI’s Operational Technology Division conducted a forensic analysis of doorbell camera footage captured on the night of Guthrie's disappearance.
The FBI also announced that the reward for information leading to the location of Guthrie or the conviction of the suspects involved in her disappearance has been raised to $100,000 from the previous $50,000.
According to the FBI, over 13,000 tips regarding the case have been submitted so far.
In addition to a description of the suspect, law enforcement also identified the type of backpack worn by the suspect in the video footage as a "black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack."
The doorbell camera video, which was released by the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday, showed a person wearing a face mask, gloves, a backpack, and what appears to be a gun holster, approaching Guthrie's door.
The individual then attempted to cover the camera's lens with plant matter.
Guthrie missing for nearly two weeks
Guthrie, the elderly mother of US television host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since the early morning of February 1st.
On Wednesday, the Pima County Sheriff's Department announced that a subject was detained during a traffic stop and was questioned in connection with the Guthrie investigation before being released.
According to a Reuters report on Thursday, investigators discovered a black latex glove discarded on the side of the road over a mile away from Guthrie's house as they searched for evidence connected to the case.
A law enforcement official briefed on the case shared with Reuters that the glove is being forensically tested for any fingerprints or DNA samples that may be relevant.
