The Foreign Ministry hopes to send Eynat Shlein to Jordan in the summer of 2015 to be its first female ambassador to an Arab country.

Her appointment still needs to be confirmed by the cabinet. She would replace Daniel Nevo.

Shlein has a BA from Tel Aviv University and MA from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

She has worked in the past at Israeli legations in Jordan, Boston, and Washington and is considered to be an expert on Middle East affairs.

On Sunday, Israel’s new Ambassador to Egypt Chaim Koren presented his credentials to Egyptian president Abdel Fatah al-Sisi. Egypt does not currently have an ambassador in Israel, but is represented by a charge d’affaires.
