Bomb hoax forces evacuation of English race track
An anonymous bomb threat forced authorities to evacuate an English horse racing track Saturday, but police found nothing suspicious. Security officials at Lingfield Park Racecourse, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of London, canceled the final race of the day after receiving a telephoned bomb threat. It was the second such false alarm this week in England. On Wednesday, a similar threat forced authorities to shut down horse racing at the Hexham Racecourse in northern England. "We received a call and the security team acted upon that," said Lingfield's clerk of the course, Neil Mackenzie Ross, who confirmed that police searchers found nothing suspicious.
