This week saw two tragedies involving children

This week a mother in Beersheba accidentally asphyxiated her three-month-old baby boy when turning over in bed. Beterem, the national center for child safety and health, said parents should never sleep in the same bed as their infants.

The voluntary organization Yad Sarah has commented in response to the tragedy that they will lend out free beds for newborns so that parents do not put the infants in their beds so they can feed them without getting up.

Meanwhile, in another  tragedy, a four-year-old girl in Betar Ilit was run over and killed on Wednesday by a 16-year-old boy who with his friends set up a car-washing service. One customer gave him his car keys, and the teenager reversed, unaware that the small girl was behind the car.
