Cerverceros recorded a thrilling 9-8 extra-inning victory over the Dawgs, Crazy Richard came from behind to upend Shimshon Hi-Tech 9-7 and Penticon rolled over the Galil Twisters 14-1 in the Israel Softball Association men's league last week. Most of the scheduled games were washed out by rain. ISP Cerveceros 9, Dawgs 8 Cerveceros ("Brewers" in Spanish) pitcher/coach Yosi Ajzenwaser held the Dawgs scoreless through three innings, while his teammates built a 5-0 lead over Dawgs hurler Aharon Kurtz through an RBI single by Alberto Tascher, a sacrifice fly by Miguel Morales in the first and aggressive baserunning by Saul Kaim, combined with sloppy Dawgs defense. Ajzenwaser tired and the Dawgs mounted a comeback in the fourth and fifth behind Dani Machlis's triple and a pair of RBIs from Yigal Rozval, tying the game at 5. At that point, as the official two-hour game time had passed, extra inning rules kicked in, with each team beginning their at-bat with a runner on second. The Dawgs scored one in the sixth inning off of relief pitcher Yehezkel Ganz, but the Telavivenos answered with one of their own sending the game to yet another extra inning. RBIs by Rozval and Dudu Zozin put the Shfela team up 8-6, but Ganz's two-run double tied it and then Tascher rolled a single into right field with Ganz sliding into home just ahead of the tag for the victory. Crazy Richard 9, Shimshon Hi-Tech 7 Shimshon Hi-Tech jumped out to a 4-1 lead over Crazy Richard after four innings behind the fine pitching of Sholom Menora, and timely hitting from Joel Schnitzler. However, the Crazies exploded for a five-run sixth inning off of relief pitcher Gadi Bossin, sparked by a pinch-hit single by Ariel Constantyn, an RBI double from Sagi Silverman and Nate Rosenberg's two-run triple. Down 9-4, the Beit Shemesh team rallied for three in the sixth with a comeback ignited by Shem-Tov Shapiro's second bunt single of the game, but the solid Tel Aviv defense shut the door, handing Shimshon Hi-Tech its first loss of the season.
