Post office cashier refuses to hand over money; police seaching for gray Mazda.
A 47-year-old man was shot dead during an armed robbery in a Safed post office on Tuesday afternoon. Three masked bandits told the cashiers to empty the till and when one of the workers refused, one of the robbers shot him in the head. An MDA team was called to the scene, on the central Hapalmah Street, but paramedics were unable to resuscitate the man. The man was later identified as deputy manager of the post office, Shimon Farjoun. He is survived by a wife and two children. Eyewitnesses said they spotted a gray Mazda speeding away from the post office and police were conducting a search for the vehicle and the three suspects.
