Bennett: Where are the female Israel Prize nominees?
"Don’t complain, nominate!” Education Minister Naftali Bennett tweeted on Wednesday.
Education Minister Naftali Bennett called on the public to nominate more women for the Israel Prize in a tweet Wednesday.

“Last year, there was criticism of the minority of women winners. It came from, among other things, the fact that almost no women were nominated,” Bennett wrote.

The minister implored people to “suggest male and female nominees for the Israel Prize,” and included a link to nominate people.

“So don’t complain, nominate!” he wrote.

Last year, only 15% of nominees were women. The only woman to win one of the 11 Israel Prizes was Miriam Peretz, an author and motivational speaker, whose two sons were killed in action as IDF soldiers.

The prize winners are selected by panels of experts in each category, and the education minister authorizes their choice.
