'The budget is Netanyahu-style piggish capitalism' Staff
Meretz Chairman Yossi Beilin sharply criticized the state budget, approved on Sunday by the cabinet, Israel Radio reported Monday. "The combination of Kadima, Labor and the Pensioners' party [GIL] gave birth to a piggish capitalism which could easily compete with the capitalism of the [Likud leader and former prime minister Binyamin] Netanyahu years," Beilin said. "The Labor party broke a record by turning its back over everything it presumed to represent. The budget is a slap in the face of the promises to minimize gaps in society that this government has been making since it was established," Beilin added.
