An innovative device, based on dermatological technology that has been serving women for several decades, is creating a revolutionary change in the world of men. Meet Vertica - an innovative patent that every man suffering from problems with sexual function must get to know about.

An important statistic: 40% of men aged 40 and over suffer from sexual dysfunction to some degree or another. This is according to a survey carried out at the University of Wisconsin in 2019. However, only a few of these will go to get help or professional treatment - mainly because of the feelings of shame surrounding the issue, the difficulty in talking about it (even with the family doctor), and admitting the problem.

Even though solutions to the problem exist, they do not provide fully to the men suffering from it. Most of the solutions are temporary, invasive or adversely affect the spontaneity required for sexual intimacy. As such, a strange situation is created, whereby the man suffers from the problem, is aware of it, understands that it is damaging to him and his relationship, but due to all these reasons, avoids treating it.

But a new device called Vertica is creating real change to this reality. This device relies on the use of low frequency radio waves (RF) that improve blood flow, its capture in the penis, and maintenance of an erection for a sustained period of time. The device has been developed by Ohh-Med Medical, an Israeli start-up company, and has even been patented and approved for use by the European Parliament, which granted the device its CE-MDR2979 certification.

It all started with treatment of wrinkles...

The revolutionary technology actually originates in the field of medical cosmetics: the technology is the same technology that was used and is still used in the treatment of wrinkles, with the commonality to both cases being the strengthening of the collagen fibers in the treated area.

The role of the collagen fibers in the skin is to provide it with stability and stiffness. As a person ages, the fibers weaken, and they struggle to fulfil their purpose. The low frequency radio waves heat the lower layers of the skin, strengthen the collagen fibers and repair them, thereby improving blood circulation and restoring the skin's elasticity.

As with the skin of the face, there is also a high concentration of collagen fibers around the male genitalia;  therefore, it was decided that efficacy of the technology would also be tested in this area. The company contacted Professor Ilan Gruenwald from the Neuro-Urology Unit at Rambam Hospital, and the rest is history: a clinical trial conducted at the hospital showed an 85% success rate, and the participants even testified to an efficacy that was maintained for six months after the last treatment.

As mentioned, following the trial, the device received the approval of the Israeli Ministry of Health. The device recently received European CE approval, and in the background, preparations are underway for the start of an American trial as part of its submission to the FDA. The device was presented at the Medica World Exhibition last year, and it is already distributed in countries all over the world, including Germany, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom

The men who have used the device up until now testify to a convenient and simple experience. Treatment is performed independently by the patient, at his home, at his own pace, and at times that are convenient for him; further, there is no obligation to specifically carry out the treatment close to having sex, thus enabling sexual spontaneity between the couple.

In contrast to the treatment of wrinkles, complete discretion was required in this case; this is another advantage of the device: it can be purchased from the company directly, with complete discretion, without contacting a doctor for a prescription, via its website or by phone, assisted by a service representative on its behalf.
