Elitzur Ashkelon pounded Maccabi Givat Shmuel 91-69 Monday night to record back-to-back wins for just the second time this season and its first since November in the final game of Basketball Super League Matchday 16.
The hosts improved to 6-9 and remained in seventh place, while last-place Givat Shmuel dropped to 2-12.
After a pair of Jay Straight free throws brought the visitors within 22-19 early in the second quarter, reserves Shahar Cohen and Oded Sha'ashoua led Ashkelon on a 23-6 run to take a commanding 20-point lead. Givat Shmuel was only able to close the gap to 49-31 at halftime.
Center Brandon Kurtz scored 24 and Tolbert added 23 to lead Ashkelon. Straight had 15 and Yuval Naimi 11 in defeat.
