Betar back on the training pitch

The Uri Malmilian era officially got underway on Wednesday when Betar Jerusalem held its first training session of the 2010/11 season at Beit Vegan.
Half-an-hour into the session, the Betar fans burst onto the field, ignited smoke bombs and lifted the coach and players on their shoulders as they do every year, bringing the first day of training to a premature ending.
The 53-year-old Malmilian, one of Betar Jerusalem’s greatest symbols, had to wait some 15 years until getting his chance to coach at the cluband despite the uncertain financial situation believes the team will dowell in the coming season.
“I’ve returned to a place I know,” Malmilian said. “I grew up here andthe excitement I’m feeling is only natural. I believe Betar will have agood season.
“We are hoping to sign five new players and hopefully everything willwork out in the next couple of weeks. Regardless of who plays for Betarwe will have a good team.”
