Young Ashdod consolidated its third place standing in the Division 1 league with a 83-run win over Dimona C in Ashdod on Saturday. Shai Penkar (125) and Eitan Benjamin (77) both played excellent innings to take the home side to 310 for 9 in their 40 overs. 15-year old Levi Divekar was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 for 66. In reply, Sammy Dandekar hit 110 for Dimona, but they fell well short of their target, completing their overs on 227 for 9, with Danny Malyankar finishing with 4 for 47. At Hadar Yosef on Friday, Ra'anana were given a brisk start by Reuven Bergman (32), but three early wickets for Mike Mohnblatt (3 for 28) and tight bowling from spinners Elad Graham (3 for 42) and Stanley Perlman (3 for 23) had the Ra'anana innings wobbling at 93 for 6. However a 7th wicket partnership of 61 between David Silver and Steven Shein (18) steadied the innings, with Silver going on to score 85 and take Ra'anana to a total of 194. Tel Aviv's chase began terribly, soon reduced to 39 for 3 with two run outs hardly helping their cause. The Israel pairing of Dovi Myers and Sanjay Gupta added 41, but Myers (23) was out to a smart leg side catch by wicketkeeper Rafi Zauer off Shein and when Gupta (20) went bowled by Shein (3 for 13), so to did Tel Aviv's hopes of a win, all out for 131.
