The Third Anda Golf Open, sponsored by Henry Zimand, was held on Thursday at the Gaash Golf Club. The capacity field of 120 players competed for plane tickets - given to the top three finishers - and received T-shirts and tote bags adorned with the Anda's Spirit, in memory of Zimand's late wife, and Gaash Golf Club logos. The local Albatross bistro bar provided coffee and cake in the morning, lunch and then a lavish barbecue dinner for the awards ceremony. Zimand, who spent most of the day observing the action and showing his appreciation for a crowd that helped keep Anda's Spirit alive, presented the prizes to the three pairs of winners. It was as if the golf tournament was conducted over two separate days. The morning field playing in perfect weather conditions, providing a firstplace win by Eli Chitiyat and Avraham Levi with a net score of 62 in a "Texas Scramble" format. Also playing in the morning were second-place winners Gil Don and Warren Berman with a net 64. In third place, playing in an afternoon session plagued by gusting winds, was Steve Midkiff and Kevin Collocott also on 64, winning on a count-out with Mike and Mimi Bannister, who earned that score in the morning session.
