David Silver scored the first century of the local cricket season as Ra'anana 1 took the maximum points against Dimona C, Maccabi Ashdod B won the Ashdod derby by 96 runs, and in Division 2, there were wins for Lions Beersheba and Lod CC last week. The Ra'anana team includes seven players under the age of 17, it was veteran David Silver who led the way, showing the youngsters how to bat by scoring 101 against Dimona C in Dimona on Friday. Adrian Vard (41) provided good support in a fifth wicket stand of 129, after Jacky Divekar (3 for 38) took early wickets to leave Ra'anana 35 for 4 after winning the toss. In reply to Ra'anana's 260 for 7, only Divekar (37) offered any resistance, with Silver (3 for 24), Raz Ben Zaken (3 for 32) and Gabi Schachat, (2 for 17) dismissing Dimona C for 142, literally seconds before heavy rains fell on the Negev town. Playing under the banner of Maccabi for the first time, Maccabi Ashdod B (formally Young Ashdod) and Maccabi Ashdod A (formally Ashdod A), met on Saturday. Dropped catches cost Ashdod A heavily, as Shlomo Dokarkar (61), Eitan Benjamin (49) and Avi Talkar (39) blasted their team to a total of 294 for 9. Anis Zaveri, batting at number eight, at least managed to earn his team a couple of batting bonus points with an undefeated 52*, but Ashdod B were comfortable 96 run winners. In a pair of Division 2 matches Saturday, Yossi Satamkar first top scored with 35* in Lod's 155/7 at Hadar Yosef, and then took 3 for 2 with the ball as Dimona A was all out for 63 in reply. In Beersheba, Samson Ashtamkar scored 56 in his team's 209/9 against Eilat, for which Avner Digorkar (3 for 19) bowled impressively. Four wickets each for Yaakov Penkar (4 for 28) and Benny Sagawkar (4 for 22) helped dismiss Eilat for 161 in reply.
