Cafe Rimon almost certainly assured itself the top spot in group B with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Giblets in the Moshiko Soccer League over the weekend.
In an entertaining encounter between the two rivals, it wasn't until the second half that Rimon's constant pressure was rewarded through a powerful Yoram Touitou strike. In response, Giblet's Eli Gilbert and Ronny Perel led the quest for an equalizer, but they were denied by some superb Zeev Sofer 'keeping.
Resilient defending from captain Cheski Steinhart and Amichai Benami held off the Giblets attack and, with just seconds remaining, Michael Halamish's half-volley put the gloss on a polished display.
In other action, Yehuda Mcmall scored late as Ben Maimon recorded its first win of the season. Akiva Hoffman had put Maimon ahead with a delightful finish only for Israel Fletcher to bring terms level. With time running out, Mcmall's solo run made it 2-1.
Also, Jeff's Boys suitably enhanced their credentials in a tight 3-2 defeat of Game Zone. Karly Wasynk claimed a pair and Sammy Perel also scored as Jeff's Boys recorded its fifth win on the trot.
Smoke Shop earned a precious ticket to the playoffs showing considerable character in a 3-2 win over the Bugs. Gavin Showders and Nosson Meyers gave Smoke Shop a 2-0 lead but Amitai Freedman and Coby Miller had the Bugs level at the break. Good passing movement saw Meyers claim his second and sealed Smoke Shop's valuable victory.
