Israel's delegation to the World Swimming Championships for Disabled Youth returned from South Africa with six gold and four silver medals. Shir Kalmanovitch, a 16-year-old from Ramat Hasharon who is a member of Ilan Ramat Gan and has cerebral palsy, came home with four of those golds and a silver. Shir's mother passed away a few months ago and her friends say that she was determined to overcome her emotional pain and return with medals. Sergei Carol, 16, and also an Ilan Ramat Gan swimmer, won the other two gold medals and three silvers.
