Games We Play: Table to Table defeats Optica Int'l

Table to Table stayed unbeaten and improved its record to 2-0 with a 15-6 victory over Optica International in an amateur softball in Israel game at Kibbutz Gezer last week. After OI jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, Table to Table's Ronnie Morris pulled down a high throw to first that ended the inning and prevented any further damage. Table to Table responded with four runs of its own in the bottom half of the first. Four consecutive singles, followed by a Chaim Forst triple just inside the right field line, was the big blow. Optica International tied the game in the top of the second, but Table to Table took the lead for good in the bottom of the third. Danny Harelick lined a double down the left-field line and came around to score after errors on the play. OI rallied again to load the bases in the fifth, but couldn't get the timely hit they needed. The score was 9-6 when Table to Table came to bat in the bottom half of the sixth. Josh Blacher delivered his third hit of the game to bring in a run and then scored himself. Two outs later, with a man on second, consecutive hits by Jeff Weiner, Morris, Aviad Bodner and David Kaplan scored Table to Table's final four runs. Blacher and Weiner each had three hits, while Forst and Jordan Rubinson, making his 2007 debut, each had a couple of hits and RBIs. Veteran righty Marc Bodner was solid again, earning his second complete-game win of the year. Rise Hi 18, Rehovot 4 Rise Hi scored eight runs in the first inning against Rehovot. The key hit was a three-run homer from Zvi Harow. Leading 12-4 going into the sixth inning, Rise Hi scored six more runs to close out the game Fathers and sons played an important role in Rise-Hi's win. Earl Harow and his son, Amiad, combined for seven hits and six RBIs, while Beryl and Avi "A.L." Thomas split the catching duties. Avi Thomas, who was playing in his first game for Rise Hi, reached base twice and scored after reaching safely in the sixth inning. Ethan Harow added three hits for Rise Hi, which improved its record to 2-1, and Ed Harow picked up the win on the mound.
