Triple T sent 20 batters to the plate in a 16-run sixth inning that sealed a victory over the Dawgs, while Penticon feasted on the Elmhurst Dairy Farmers in the second weekend of the Israel Softball Association's Babe Gillett Fastpitch Fall Tournament. Triple T 25, Dawgs 10 Triple T's sixth-inning attack broke open a 9-6 nail-biter. The Dawgs struck first with a five-run second inning on aggressive baserunning, sloppy TTT fielding, and an RBI triple from Yehezkel Ganz, while pitcher Shmuel Goldstein held TTT scoreless. TTT answered with three in the third, and then took the lead with five more in the fourth, including a two-run single by seldomused sub Ron Lange that broke the tie. Meanwhile, pitcher Yosi Ajzenwaser shut down the Dawgs, allowing only one run in the final three innings, and striking out three. In the big sixth, Moshe Hyde, Tim Cummings and Noah Grabowitz each knocked in two runs. Eitan Milgram and Grabowitz each had four hits and Milgram and Tomer Molovinsky scored four runs apiece. Also in the sixth, Shlomi Dahan, 16, made his pitching debut for TTT, allowing four runs, but he forced the last two batters he faced to ground out. Joe Gitler had three hits and scored three for the Dawgs and Danny Epstein doubled and scored twice. Penticon 18, Elmhurst Dairy 3 Daniel Maddy-Weitzman and David Fleitman hit first-inning home runs and Benzi Fleitman pitched effectively as Penticon improved to 2-0 with a workmanlike drubbing of Elmhurst, a team that plays in the non-ISA Adult Softball League during the regular season but joins the ISA Fall Tournament each year. Adam Fishman, Lavey Friedman and Seth Gerson each stroked doubles and Zev Brodsky a triple for the Farmers, and Lawrence Berkowitz made a perfect throw from right field to nail a runner at second base. Tigers 18, Otsma Eilat 2 Pitcher Ilan Spira struck out nine and allowed only four hits in the win over short-handed Eilat. The Tigers scored nine runs in the sixth to break open a close game. Losing pitcher Yoni Weiss whiffed eight Tigers but tired towards the end. Dror Gal almost hit for the cycle in his impressive league debut, lacking only a double, and drove in three runs, and Ari Kanterewicz had two hits for the Tigers. Tri-United 20, Otsma Eilat 5 Tri-United rode an eightrun first inning to a win in its opening game of the Fall Tournament. Sholom Menorah pitched effectively, walking only two in five innings and also had a big two-run triple. Gil Teitelbaum, who hadn't played softball in three years, (3-3, two walks, three runs, four RBIs), Mark Chass (2-2, three walks, three runs, sliding catch in center field) and Chaim Friedman (two hits, two RBIs, three fine plays at second base) were the stars for TU. Cuban migr Elias Mizrahi had two hits, including a double and Yoni Weiss tripled for Eilat.
