Yotam Halperin's struggles continued in Utah on Saturday, a day after he recorded no points, two turnovers and four fouls in seven minutes of action.
In his second game with the Seattle Supersonics' summer league squad, the 53rd overall pick in this year's NBA Draft again recorded four personal fouls, while managing to score only five points on 28.5 percent shooting from the field.
Although Halperin rounded off his poor shooting display by going 0-for-2 at the free throw line, he did dish out two assists, pull down a rebound and snag a steal.
Despite his shooting woes, Halperin was able to prove his ball-handling abilities. He did not turn the ball over once in his 23 minutes of action. Halperin was the only Sonics player to play over 20 minutes and not commit a turnover.
Because of his size and shooting abilities, Halperin was drafted as a "combo guard" who can play either the point or shooting guard positions. When the Sonics drafted Halperin, they were already familiar with his 45.2% Euroleague career shooting. Therefore, it was important for the NBA hopeful to establish himself as a point guard who could run the floor without getting into trouble.
Since Halperin's shot is expected to pick up once he gets used to the NBA style of play and three-point-line, the Sonics are most likely not concerned - yet.
The second NBA summer league game of the 1.93-meter guard's career can be viewed as an overall success.
In terms of room for improvement, the 24-year old should now focus on avoiding foul trouble and finding the stroke that helped him become a star overseas.
