Just four months after competing in the biggest event of their lives at the Beijing Olympics, Israel's swimmers returned to action on Thursday.
The European Short Course Swimming Championships got under way in Rijeka, Croatia and although most of Israel's top swimmers are skipping the event, the delegation already has one final to its name.
Guy Barnea finished the 200 meters backstroke final in eight position on Thursday, clocking a time of 1:55.93 minutes.
The result is encouraging news for Barnea ahead of his main events, the 50m and 100m backstroke.
