Overseas success for Israeli golfers

Israel's top golfers continued their success abroad over the past month, participating in a number of high level tournaments. Laetitia Beck and Asaf Cohen played in the Junior British Open at the Hesketh Golf Club near Southport, England. Beck finished the tournament in third place in the girls section while Cohen ended 18th in the boys. Beck was awarded a trophy for the best Junior Golfer from Eastern Europe and Middle East. Denis Leonov, Daniel Strassler, Leslie Ben Amir and Yair Fridrich participated in the Russian Amateur Open. The best result was achieved by Leonov who came in at 18th place in a field of over 100 players. This past week saw Beck, Cohen and Dor Hacham play at the prestigious European Young Masters held at the Chantilly Golf Club close to Paris, France. Beck finished tied for fifth place from a field of 49 of the best Junior Girl Golfers in all of Europe. Cohen finished in 32nd place of 50 golfers in the boys section and Hacham 47th. In August a team of six senior golfers will travel to Ireland to play in the European Senior Team Championships at the Shannon Golf Club and Laetitia Beck returns to the United Kingdom to play in the British Girls Championships in Scotland. In September Israel will be represented at the Turkish Open Championships in Belek by Barry Shaked, Denis Leonov and Asaf Cohen to be played on the Nick Faldo-designed Cornelia Golf Course.
