Inbal Pezaro won Israel's first medal of the Beijing Paralympics on the opening day of the Games on Sunday, claiming a silver medal in the 100 meters Freestyle S5 competition.
The 21-year-old added to her silver and bronze medals from the Athens Games by recording a new Israeli record time of 1:21.57 minutes to finish second to Teresa Maria Perales, who set a new world record.
Also Sunday, Israel's wheelchair basketball team lost its opener 76-53 to the USA.
Dotan Meishar scored 27 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for the national team, which is taking part in the Paralympics for the first time in 16 years.
