Irina Risenzon made Israeli history on Friday by being the first athlete to make the Olympic finals in Rhythmic Gymnastics, in the Individual All-Around competition.
Still, Risenzon was placed eighth overall in the competition following Friday's competition, and her chances for a medal were slim. Fellow gymnast Neta Rivkin finished in 14th place and will not participate in the finals.
In the group event, the Israeli team made a surprising comeback on Friday, placing seventh overall and making the finals as well. The team had a disappointing run on the first day of qualification on Thursday, placing 11th out of 12 teams in the Group All-Around.
