Zabolotniy sets hammer throw record

Yevgeniya Zabolotniy improved 10 centimeters on the Israeli women's hammer throw record on Saturday night with a 46.93-meter result to win the event at the Israeli Winter Championships at Hadar Yosef in Tel Aviv. Zabolotniy, who represents Maccabi Bnei Hanegev Beersheba, broke the previous mark set by Tzila Asher in 1999. Some 200 athletes took part in the championships. Among other notable women's results were Noah Berman's 38.27-m. in the javelin, Sivan Jean's 48.13-m. discus throw and Olga Dogadko's 3.85-m. in the pole vault. Vadim Bavikin won the men's javelin with a 75.5-m. result, Yohai Halevi took the long jump in 7.53-m. and Felix Gromadskiy set a personal best with a 51.31-m. throw in the discus.
