The police launched an investigation after a 19-year-old tourist arrived at a hospital in Jerusalem and reported to police she had been sexually assaulted. 

“How does the judge say that it’s enough to watch the video and then decide to release her?” the father said. “You have to look at the severity of her actions. This is a scandal.”

Rimer, a 53-year-old Ramle resident, was arrested last week, with investigators saying that the pediatric intensive care unit CCTV captured footage of her crimes.

The suspect, identified as Yaakov Yisrael Berkowitz, 31, allegedly poured gasoline on the 12-year-old victim following an earlier confrontation with his father.

Of the thousands of online crimes reported in 2024, over half of them involved theft and/or distribution of information (52.4%), with a higher likelihood of women being the victims.
