The best end-of-summer events across Israel

The Tel Aviv Port has transformed into a particularly sweet, colorful kingdom for the final days of vacation. Running through the end of the break, the "Over-the-Top Festival at the Port" features massive light displays up to 10 meters high that illuminate the waterfront at dusk. Visual highlights include a giant birthday cake, an ice cream cone, cotton candy, gummy bears, a donut, a lollipop, and more.

Alongside the installations, visitors can explore interactive photo zones, colorful street performers, children’s workshops, and digital gaming stations. The sandbox area has been converted into a "marshmallow pool" filled with giant pink and white beanbags, while a synchronized light-and-music show lights up the marina every half hour.

Food lovers will not be disappointed either. At Nadav Bornstein's pop-up complex, hot chocolate chip cookies are baked right before your eyes, and selected port restaurants are serving limited-edition "over-the-top" dishes and desserts.

For families who prefer nature over sweets, KKL-JNF is hosting the "Ilanot Summer 2026" event in the Sharon region’s Ilanot Forest. Visitors can enjoy free admission to the interactive visitor center and take guided tours of the botanical garden, with no advance registration required.

Additionally, kids can test their skills in "Environmental Treasure," an independent, prize-winning navigation game that takes them on an interactive smartphone mission through the forest.

Community centers and retail hubs across Israel are hosting free water activities to cool off during the heatwave, featuring everything from foam cannons to giant slides.
