Families have a new address for outdoor fun this summer at Tel Aviv's Hayarkon Park. For the months of June, July and August, a cornucopia of events are slated for different sections of the park. "Playroom of Possibilities" is the site for games and activities ranging from hopscotch, jump rope, hula-hoop and mahanayim (Israeli dodgeball) to volleyball, basketball, storytelling, puppet shows, drum circles and racing on the swan paddle boats in the Hayarkon River. The playroom will be open each Saturday between the 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. At "Legends of the Enchanted Forest" at Tel Afek, families will find theater for children between 3 and 9 on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. The Mekorot Pumping Station will serve as an outdoor hotel on the nights of July 7 and 21 and August 4 and 18. Families will sleep under the starry summer sky as part of the "Hotel of Many Stars," with bathrooms and showers to be set up by the park authority nearby. The camp-outs will feature a variety of nighttime activities, from explanations of celestial formations to bonfires. Families need to arrange for their own sleeping accommodations and food. The cost is NIS 100 per family, with participants asked to arrive by 16:00. Plenty of other activities and events are scheduled over the three-month period. Park admission is the regular NIS 12 for children and NIS 23 for adults. Once in the park, activities are free of charge. Holders of the Park's Green Card passport may enter for free.
