Iran Defense Minister warns of ‘Israel’s WMDs’ threat to world

The Iranian defense minister added that Israel, supported by the US, was seeking to create a rift in the Muslim world by having them kill each other.

As world powers near a deal with Iran on its nuclear weapons program, Iran’s Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan warned on Monday that “Israel’s weapons of mass destruction” threaten the entire world.
“Possessing hundreds of atomic warheads, WMDs and other advanced weapons and possibilities presented by the West, today, the bloodthirsty Zionist regime is the axis of evil, espionage and warmongering in the world,” Dehghan said in Tehran, the semi-official Fars News Agency reported. “Not only the Muslim states but also the Western countries and even the US are not and will not be immune to the regime’s danger.”
The Iranian defense minister added that Israel, supported by the US, was seeking to create a rift in the Muslim world by having them kill each other, referring to the ongoing regional sectarian strife.
Dehghan also ventured that Israel is plotting to extend “the occupation” from “the Nile to the Euphrates” with the support of Islamic State, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
He added that the only way to liberate Jerusalem would be through Muslim unity.
Meanwhile, Brig.-Gen. Ahmad Reza Pourdastan, commander of Iran’s ground forces, said on Sunday that even if a nuclear deal is reached, it never will mean Iran-US friendly relations.
“The US might arrive at some agreements with us within the framework of the Group 5+1 [China, France, Russia, the UK, the US and Germany], but we should never hold a positive view over the enemy,” he said, according to Fars. “Our enmity with them is over the principles and is rooted because we are after the truth and nations’ freedom, but they seek exploiting nations and putting them in chains.”
Regarding the ongoing talks, Iranian lawmaker, Mohammad Saleh Jokar, emphasized that any final deal would mean the irreversible termination of all sanctions.
“The agreement should include explicit and transparent details and frameworks for the irreversibility of the sanctions,” Jokar said on Monday according to Fars.
