One day after rival Strauss announced a price hike, Tnuva said Thursday it, too, will increase the price of a number of its dairy products.

Starting next week, yogurts, milk beverages and yellow and salty cheeses will cost 4.8 percent more for consumers, desserts will rise by 3.5%, vitamin-enriched milk will rise by 3% and soft cheeses and sweet cream will rise by 2.5%. Goods produced by Tnuva brands Sunfrost, Maadanot, Chicken Mama, Olivia and Adom Adom will rise by 4%-5%.

Cottage cheese, the symbol of last summer’s consumer boycott of Tnuva, Strauss and fellow dairy manufacturer Tara, will remain unchanged. Tnuva said it would not make a decision on cottage-cheese prices before a government announcement on goods under price supervision, “due to public sensitivity.”

Like Strauss, Tnuva said the price hike was caused by the rise in costs of raw materials, as well as high production costs associated with electricity, water, fuel and municipal taxes.
