Police arrested nine residents from Issawiya, among them five youths, on suspicion of involvement in the ambush on four Israeli students who entered the village by mistake two weeks ago after receiving deceptive directions.

Some of those arrested are suspected of deliberately leading the students into the village where they were attacked and their vehicle heavily damaged.

The five youths were placed under house arrest and on bail under restrictive conditions.

The remand of the other four detainees was extended and police intend to file charges.
