Syrian President Bashar Assad visited a university campus in Damascus Saturday, marking his second public appear in a week, Beirut-based The Daily Star reported.

According to the report, Assad participated in a ceremony commemorating student "martyrs" who had died in the past two years of violence and uprising faced by the country.

Assad, who reportedly makes rare public appearances, was present Wednesday at a Damascus power plant to mark May Day.
