The cabinet approved the appointment of Minister Ophir Akunis to fill the position of Minister of Science and Technology as a replacement for Danny Danon who was appointed as the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's ministers approved his appointment of Danny Danon as ambassador in a vote conducted by telephone last week.
