An explosive device set off a blast in a vehicle in Rehovot, a city south of Tel Aviv, on Saturday, leaving one person dead and two others injured, Magen David Adom said.

A man in his 40s who was critically injured in the explosion died en route to the hospital.

A 50-year-old man was seriously injured, according to paramedics at the scene, and a woman in her thirties, likely a bystander, was also wounded. They were taken to a local hospital.

Police believe the incident is criminal.
