Close call as collision avoided at Ben Gurion Airport

A near accident between an ElAl and an Air Berlin flight took place at Tel Aviv's Ben-Gurion Airport on Thursday.
The Air Berlin flight, which had been directed by the air traffic control tower to a take off on a western-facing runway, accidentally used the southern-facing runway where the ElAl flight was about to land.
Preventing what could have been a tragic ending, the control tower instructed the ElAl flight to abort its landing. The Air Berlin flight took off without further incident and continued on its route to Germany.
