Court dismisses soldiers' Kishon River cancer, death suit

Court dismisses former soldiers' lawsuit claiming toxins from Kishon River caused cancer, death
The Haifa District Court dismissed a lawsuit on Monday brought by 70 former IDF soldiers who argued that carcinogenic substances from the Kishon River near Haifa caused them to suffer serious illness and even death, Israel Radio reported.
The former IDF soldiers, who mostly served in the navy brought their suit against Haifa Chemicals Ltd., Oil Refineries Ltd., the Municipality of Haifa and other entities.
According to the report, Justice Adi Zarnik ruled that the dangerous substances were found in the river but the plaintiffs were unable to prove that their exposure to them was the cause of their illnesses.
