Education Minister to re-examine history matriculation exam

Education Minister Shai Piron wrote on Facebook on Tuesday that he will have the ministry reexamine the history matriculation exam, which took place on Monday, following the complaints of students across the country who said the test was excessively difficult and unfair.
“The investigation will be sharp and transparent, with lessons to be learned for the future,” Piron wrote. “At the same time, if the tests were disproportionately hard, we will find a solution that does not harm the students.”
The minister also reiterated his disapproval of “excessive testing measures” and said there is a need to change the education system to have less exams, which only test memorization of material, and focus more on teamwork, research papers and other assignments.
