Eli Yishai to PM: Boycott J Street

Shas chairman Eli Yishai wrote Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Thursday urging them to reconsider the decision to send a senior diplomat to next week's J Street conference in Washington.

In past years, official Israeli representatives in Washington boycotted events organized by the controversial lobby that bills itself as "pro-Israel and pro-peace." But this year Deputy Head of Mission Barukh Binah will attend and even speak at the conference.

Binah, who holds the title of ambassador, just finished a four-year stint as served as the Deputy Director General for North America and prior to that held the prestigious post of Israel's Consul General to the Midwest in Chicago.
