Fire at Honduras jail kills at least 272 prisoners

TEGUCIGALPA - A fire swept through a jail in Honduras, killing more than 100 people, many of them inmates, a fire department spokesman said early Wednesday.
"In the cells there are more than 100 charred bodies," the spokesman told Reuters, adding that there were reports of shooting inside the jail late on Tuesday, when the fire was believed to have started.
The prison was in the town of Comayagua, about 75 kilometers north of the capital Tegucigalpa.
