Government allocates NIS 11b. for Tel Aviv light rail

The government on Sunday gave the Transportation Ministry the mandate to advance the development of a light rail system in Tel Aviv, following the cancellation of a contract to construct the rail system privately.
The government allocated NIS 11 billion shekels to the Transportation Ministry in order to carry out the project.
Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz called the Tel Aviv light rail project "the most important transportation project in Israel," and lamented the fact that the project has not been advanced more quickly.
