Islamic State announced Monday afternoon that they were behind the lethal carnage in Las Vegas that claimed the lives of 50 people and injured hundreds, despite the fact that police have identified the shooter already as a 64-year-old local resident named Stephen Paddock who, according to initial reports, is not directly affiliated to any terror group.

The investigation into the America's deadliest shooting is ongoing and police have said that the death toll is expected to rise.
