Israel Police arrest 30 in arms bust

Police on Tuesday arrested 30 Jewish and Arab suspects in Jerusalem, Beitar Illit, and Ma’aleh Adumim allegedly involved in buying and selling arms and drug trafficking.
The arrests were made after an undercover police agent bought weapons and drugs from the suspects during a protracted operation, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. “The undercover agent worked for six months in dangerous operations, including buying M-16s, five Carl Gustav submachine guns, a pistol, and eight stun grenades,” he said.
Among the 30 suspects, 11 are residents of east Jerusalem’s Silwan, Ras al-Amud, and Sur Bahir neighborhoods.
